Established in 2010 under the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association. Approved by the National Board for Technical Education. Built on one conviction that competence, not connection, is what changes a young person's life.

For sixteen years, NIMTA has trained the sons and daughters of those who serve this country. We do not promise certificates. We promise competence. Every programme here is built the way the Army builds anything worth keeping, with structure, with standards, and with an unshakeable focus on the outcome.

You will train under working professionals, not career lecturers. You will spend your days doing the work, not copying notes. And you will leave with something no one can take from you, a skill, a portfolio, and the confidence of a person who has earned both.

How We Train

We have three principles

1. You learn by doing.

Ninety-nine percent of your time here is spent on the work itself. Coding. Cutting. Cooking. Styling. Selling. Theory earns its place only when it makes your hands better.

2. Your instructors do this for a living.

Every facilitator at NIMTA is an active professional in the field they teach. They know what the market pays for this year, not what a textbook said a decade ago.

3. You graduate with proof.

A certificate says you attended. A portfolio proves you can deliver. Every NIMTA graduate leaves with both, and it is the second one that gets you hired.

Software Development (Full Stack Web)

Department of Technology

From the earliest cohorts in 2010, NIMTA has put laptops in front of young Nigerians and asked them to build something real. Sixteen years on, our software development track has produced graduates who deploy working applications before they collect their certificates. You train in a live lab, present to facilitators who write code for a living, and leave with a GitHub profile that proves you can deliver.

Fashion Design & Garment Construction

Department of Fashion & Textiles

The fashion studio at NIMTA has been cutting, stitching and finishing garments for sixteen years. Participants work on real bodies, draft patterns from scratch, and present capsule collections to an audience before graduation day. Many of our earliest alumni still run labels today, and several return to mentor the cohorts that follow them.

Professional Culinary Arts

Department of Culinary Arts

Our training kitchens have been active since the institute opened. Participants cook Nigerian and continental dishes from week one, work service during open days and catering jobs, and finish with the confidence to feed paying customers. Over sixteen years, NIMTA culinary graduates have gone on to run canteens, bakeries and event catering businesses across Abuja and beyond.

Professional Make-Up Artistry

Make-up at NIMTA is taught on real clients from the second week, not on mannequins alone. For more than a decade, participants have built portfolios of bridal, editorial and everyday looks while learning to price, consult and retain customers. Graduates leave with photographs of work they have already been paid for, not just practice shots from a classroom.

Digital Marketing & Social Media Management

As social media reshaped how Nigerian businesses reach customers, NIMTA added digital marketing to its technology department and kept it practical. Participants run real campaigns for real businesses during training, measure results, and learn to charge for the work. Sixteen years of institute history means sixteen years of adapting our programmes to what the market actually pays for.

We are recognised, regulated and respected globally

NIMTA operates under the auspices of the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA), an organisation with over six decades of humanitarian service, and holds approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Our certificates are signed by the Director-General of NIMTA and the President of NAOWA, carry a unique verifiable serial number, and are backed by an institution whose name has meant something in this country for more than sixty years.
